Toffee Recipe

2 sticks butter (1/2 lb.) (do not use margarine)
1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 - 1 cup pecan or walnut chips
6 - 8 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Spread nuts on wax paper.
Melt butter in medium saucepan over medium heat.
Add sugar and stir constantly until 280° F.

Pour immediately over nuts.
Drop chocolate chips on hot candy so they will melt.
Spread melted chocolate chips with a knife.

You can put it in the refrigerator to harden the chocolate, if needed.
When cold, break into pieces.
